NVIDIA launches Blackwell chip production in Arizona. More US plants are to open soon in Texas.
NVIDIA has finally started producing AI supercomputers in the USA. TSMC’s chip plants in Phoenix, Arizona, have started producing NVIDIA Blackwell chips.
In parallel, NVIDIA is also building its supercomputer manufacturing plants in a couple of locations at Texas including Foxconn in Houston, and Wistron in Dallas.
NVIDIA has announced a partnership with TSMC, Foxconn, Wistron, Amkor, and SPIL to produce up to half a trillion dollars of AI infrastructure in the United States. The goal is to start mass production of AI supercomputers in upcoming 12-14 months.
This plan is expected to aim at fueling the rise of “gigawatt AI factories” and creating hundreds of thousands of jobs.
NVIDIA is also planning to use NVIDIA Omniverse and Isaac GR00T Robotics to design and automate these facilities for a more efficient production cycle.
Emphasizing the announcement, the Founder and CEO of NVIDIA, Jensen Huang, said:
“The engines of the world’s AI infrastructure are being built in the United States for the first time. Adding American manufacturing helps us better meet the incredible and growing demand for AI chips and supercomputers, strengthens our supply chain, and boosts our resiliency.”
The move is perfectly timed with the American Government pushing for tighter restrictions on high-end AI chips to China. These restrictions, reportedly, are in place to tackle security risks.
Semiconductors have also been the focus of both countries, turning into a cause of rising tensions as well. In recent developments, President Trump has announced new tariffs on chips. So, NVIDIA’s move perfectly align with the timeline giving it an opportunity to target and fill the gap.
