Adobe’s New Photoshop for iPhone Brings Real Desktop Power to Mobile

Date: February 26, 2025

Adobe launches a full-featured Photoshop app for iPhone, bringing AI tools, pro editing features, and a seamless mobile experience.

Adobe is finally giving iPhone users what they’ve been waiting for—a fully capable Photoshop app that feels closer to the real thing. With a mix of classic desktop tools and AI-powered features, this mobile app is a huge leap from its previous versions and aims to put professional-grade editing in your pocket.

Photoshop on iPhone—What’s New?

Until now, Photoshop’s mobile versions felt like watered-down side projects. This time, Adobe is taking mobile editing seriously. The new iPhone app comes packed with layer compositing, masking, selections, and Spot Healing Brush, among other essential tools.

But the real game-changer? Firefly-powered AI tools. Users can now access Generative Fill and Generative Expand, bringing powerful content-aware editing straight to their phones.

Deepa Subramaniam, Adobe’s VP of product marketing, emphasized how the company designed this app for a new wave of digital creators:

“We spent a lot of time and energy testing directly with our target user base, which is the next-generation creator who does a lot on their phone.”

Free vs. Premium—What’s the Catch?

The app is free to download from the App Store, but if you want access to advanced tools like Object Select, Magic Wand, Clone Stamp, and Content-Aware Fill, you’ll need a premium subscription.

  • Free version: Basic tools like layers and selections.
  • Premium version: $7.99/month or $69.99/year unlocks pro features (AI image generator, fonts, typography options, and more) and access to Photoshop on the web.

This pricing strategy keeps Photoshop competitive with mobile-first editing apps while giving serious creators a way to integrate with Adobe’s full suite of tools.

Android Users? Hold Tight.

Right now, the Photoshop iPhone app is exclusive to iOS, but Adobe has confirmed that an Android version is in the works for later this year.

That means soon, whether you’re an iPhone or Android user, Photoshop will finally be a true mobile-first tool.
