iPadOS 19 is Getting a Major Revamp to Look a Lot Like ‘macOS’

Date: April 14, 2025

Apple is all set to revamp its iPad experience with iPadOS 19. The new redesign, expected to be released almost a year after the M4 chip’s release, will take inspiration from macOS.

According to a report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the theme of the upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) will probably heavily focus on iPad software.

The report suggests that the new upgrade will prioritze app window management, enhanced productivity tools, and improved multitasking features, ultimately converting the overall iPad experience into a much closer version of macOS.

This transformation is followed by almost a year of gap after Apple launched its M4 chips, and could be in the market in parallel with M5 chips in Pro devices.

Mark Gurman adds, reflecting on user sentiment:

“Many of them, including myself, just wanted Apple to put macOS on the iPad. They won’t get their wish, but the changes will likely go far enough to make a lot of those users happy — at least for now.”

If true, iPadOS 19 could mark one of the most significant shifts in iPad history—redefining how Apple positions its tablets as serious productivity machines, not just media consumption devices.

It has been a demand of users to change the iPad experience for a while now, and it might be happening finally. So, will the users embrace it or not? We need to wait to see!
