Gmail’s new Gemini-powered “Add to Calendar” button simplifies scheduling by detecting events in emails and adding them to Google Calendar instantly.
Google is making it easier to stay on top of your schedule. Gmail is rolling out a new “Add to Calendar” button, powered by its Gemini AI, allowing users to create calendar events straight from their inbox—no more manual copy-pasting.
The feature, which started rolling out on March 10, 2025, uses Gemini to detect dates, times, and event details within emails. When relevant information is found, Gmail will display an “Add to Calendar” button right in the email. Clicking it opens a side panel where users can review or tweak event details before saving them to Google Calendar.

This AI-driven addition aims to streamline the tedious process of scheduling. People spend too much time jumping between emails and calendar apps to add events manually. This feature cuts down on that friction.
However, it won’t replace Google’s existing automatic event extraction. If an email already contains a structured event, such as a flight confirmation or a restaurant booking, the button won’t appear. Additionally, events created through this feature won’t automatically include other guests unless manually added.
For now, the feature is limited to Gmail’s web version and is only available in English. It’s rolling out gradually and is expected to reach all eligible users by mid-April. Supported plans include:
This update is part of Google’s broader AI integration strategy across its productivity tools. With Gemini stepping in to handle scheduling, Gmail continues its shift toward becoming a more proactive, AI-powered assistant rather than just an email client.
