Red Dead Redemption is being relaunched for PC users after 14 years of the initial launch, and the pricing set for it has upset the global fanbase.
All who played Red Dead Redemption even once would know how beautifully crafted its gameplay and VFX are. However, the game’s experience was limited to PS3 and Xbox 360 users till 2023, when its PS4 and Nintendo version was released. The game maker is finally relaunching the game for the PC port at $49.99, making many fans angry or upset.
The Red Dead Redemption PC port will be launched with an additional bundle of Undead Nightmare on October 29, 2024. Global fan communities of the game have become furious over the overpricing of the 14-year-old game.
One fan who goes by the username ‘theFrenchDutch’ posted on Reddit that the $49.99 pricing was “a f***ing ridiculous price for a 14 year old game.” Another one pointed out that even with the Undead Nightmare add-on, the game is “an incomplete PC port of a 14 year old game.”
Modern RDR ports on every platform cost almost the same, but compared to other Rockstar game ports, they are still too expensive. The price point of RDR is $49.99 for Nintendo Switch and PS4. The inclusion of new graphical features like DLSS and 4K resolution does not suffice to get positive critiques from fans. Many fans have claimed that this pricing should have at least included a more comprehensive remaster that fits modern consoles.
Multiple users have highlighted the fact that RDR2’s PC port is placed at just $10 above RDR1, while the new volume offers much better graphics, open-world interactions, and Non-Playing character IQ.
Fans now await discounts on top gaming marketplaces like Steam, where RDR2 comes at a low price point of $19.79 on Sale. RDR1 may get even steeper discounts to attract users, but the sale may take some time before commencing. Rockstar Games have historically dropped at most by 30% on sale, requiring additional discount or cashback layers of individual buyers to make the final bill cheaper.
