Date: October 22, 2024
The reported iOS 18.1 release date has been confirmed by Apple, marking October 28, 2024, as the official launch day of the new OS globally.
All the new iPhone 16, Pro, Plus, and Pro Max users have been eagerly waiting for the arrival of the much-anticipated features exclusive to the 16 series devices. Multiple news and media platforms reported that the company may launch its iOS 18.1 version before November. Yesterday, Apple confirmed the reports stating that October 28, 2024, will be the official iOS 18.1 release date.
The Apple WWDC 2024 event revealed multiple new introductions, impressive upgrades to existing features, and a revamped iOS 18 that seamlessly meets the modern mobile user’s demands. iPhone 16 was released on September 20, 2024, but it underdelivered the promised OS-level and Artificial Intelligence features.
The company released iOS 18 without most of the promised features, including Apple Intelligence. This update brings back all that was lacking, especially with the rollout of Apple Intelligence. Apple Intelligence is equipped with impressive capabilities that can be invoked with a single command. Whenever prompted, Apple Intelligence can tidy up images, summarize notifications, and even write a wide range of original content for users.
It is important to note that only a few select iPhone models are compatible with running the latest Apple Intelligence features that come with the iOS 18.1 version update. The list includes some of the flagship models of their time belonging to the Pro series of Apple legacy. The older mobile devices with processors older than the A17 Pro chip, including iPhone 15 and 15 Plus models, are not eligible to run Apple Intelligence. iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max are compatible to run the latest AI features like the new AI assistant, a renewed Siri, and a call transcription tool.
Apple has already introduced an autonomous voice mail feature with an accurate speech-to-text converter. An upgraded iPhone mirroring tool is also arriving with the iOS 18.1 update that will unlock drag and drop functionality to mirror computer files onto the iPhone and vice versa.
