Elon Musk unveiled the self-driving steeringless Cybercab and Robovan, which became the highlight of Tesla’s We, Robot event.
Elon Musk returned to the stage during the We, Robot event yesterday. Unlike in previous times, his revelations stole the spotlight and are now going viral all over the internet. Tesla is set to launch two flagship fully self-driving cars, which Elon Musk revealed during the event in Los Angeles. Let’s see what they are and what they can do to make our future futuristic.
“The future should look like the future,” said Elon Musk on the stage of the We, Robot event.
Musk unveiled a prototype of an electric, autonomous vehicle almost the size of a bus, designed for transportation purposes in high-density regions. The fully self-drive electric vehicle is named the Robovan. According to his vision, the Robovan can carry up to 20 passengers or a much larger number of goods. Not gonna lie, but the Robovan surely looks like it will pick you from your spot and deliver you straight to space.
“So if you want to take a sports team somewhere or you’re looking to really get the cost of travel down to, I don’t know, $0.05 to $0.10 cents per mile, then you can use the Robovan,” said Musk while explaining real-world use case of the Robovan.
Remember the Cybertruck that Elon Musk showed off passionately but broke the glass off during its demonstration? Consider the Cybercab a sleeker and rounder version of that truck, except its windows won’t break as easily. The Cybercab is a visionary commercial fully self-drive vehicle meant for autonomous ride-hailing. Musk stated that the Cybercabs will begin rolling out before 2027 for less than $30,000.
Elon Musk also made a dramatic entry with multiple robots resembling a person in a robot suit. The fact is that these robots will soon walk among humans serving drinks at a bar, and they will cost only $20k to $30k. The bot army he brought on stage had a disco dance party within themselves, demonstrating their autonomous engagement and task management capabilities.
While Musk has a strong reputation for promising things and postponing them, he has ultimately delivered some of the most fascinating products to the world. With AI advancing rapidly, the vision of Tesla’s CEO may soon reach our doorsteps at a price no competitor can match.
